But today's "conservatives" see things much differently...

Some establishments include tips as part of the bill.
And in most places, 15% is considered as being a minimum tip.

In places where tipping is not mandatory, those who choose to
tip less than 15% are viewed as cheapskates.

George Bernard Shaw once tipped a waiter $50.  The waiter told Shaw
how grateful he was for receiving such a big tip.  Shaw replied, "That
is what I give for *lousy* service."

Whether as an individual total, or a group total, the tip given is
based on the total bill.  Of course, service does play a part as to
how much a patron(s) might choose to tip...

Have you ever been to Pat O'Brien's in the French Quarter?  Pat
O'Brien's is a piano bar, with two pianists playing at all times.
Each pianist is guaranteed $150 against tips, per performance.
For the past twenty years, no pianist has ever had to draw upon
his/her salary guarantee, having made far more in tips than the
salary guarantee.  Of course, that was before Katrina...
