Ärende: Alex Vissarionov and the ongoing FTSC-election

Dear All,
 
I've just come back from a stay in France and am disturbed by what is happening
in the voting-process of the ongoing FTSC-election.
 
The purpose of this election is to get a technically qualified group of people
appointed into the FTSC: people with shown and demontrated skills in the
technical ins and outs of Fidonet.
 
This is not a popularity poll, this is not a thing from the ancient zone-wars
... I thought. Now I'm wondering if I do not have to revisit that point of
view.
 
On the list of candidates Alex Vissarionov is one of "the" most qualified
individuals. He has received one vote only so far, coming from the R50EC, and
that is a disgrace.
 
He is obviously being punished by a, and I am stopping short of using the word
"coordinated", campaign intended at ousting him from the FTSC for his very
vocal but justified opinion on the technical status of certain of its sitting
members as well as those on the ballot.
 
If this charade continues and Alex does not get elected, as one of the most
technically capable in the nodelist, then I do not see why I should further
bother about the FTSC at all. At that point it would have become yet just
another political instrument without any technical "raison d'ˆtre".
 
The survival of any society can only be achieved by selecting the strongest
people for the positions of authority. Not doing so severely weakens the
chances for continuation.
 
I hereby urge every RC and REC from this zone, and from the other zones if they
are reading along, to get the best technically qualified people in the FTSC.
Alex Vissarionov has his place there. Not having him elected because of bias
generated by selected individuals as far as I'm concerned automatically moves
such a voter into the category of "dangerous for the continuation of Fidonet".
 
When you cast your vote, I urge you to:
 
1) Vote for technically qualified people
2) Use your common sense to delete the politicians and the ones generating
   mostly wind but no content.
 
Thank you for taking a strong stand for the continuation of Fidonet.
