Ärende: A Different Drummer...

I bought four laser printers on Tuesday, and I just finished napping for four
hours, after spending $467 on tools at another auction. I woke up, and thought
I had slept through the night. Looking at the alarm clock, I thought it was
wrong. When I reached to change it, it dawned on me, (No pun intended.) that
maybe it wasn't morning. The clock might still be correct, since I recharged
the battery just days ago, and set the time then.

Ah, "Curiouser, and curiouser."

Amazing how that happens, isn't it? Often it amuses me how we missed the lesson
the first time. <G+D?>

I wasn't introduced to fiction in any big way, for the longest time. By the
time I did start to appreciate it, I was well into technical manuals, and
measurement and specification documents. As such, my reading for joy, has
suffered. I appreciate Poe, (Big surprise, eh.) A Clockwork Orange, (Another
surprise.) Man In The Sea, Chrysalis... My point being, for the longest time, I
was expecting every sentence to parlay a new sentiment, and if the paragraph
didn't make sense to me, I'd have to read it two or three times. I never
expected that it might just be a lame author, or one not as fantastic as had
held my attention earlier. (Geese, maybe I don't *have* a point.)

I picked up a batch of - supposedly - technical books from the library, when I
realized one author is a professional fool in practice, *and* in print. Only
then, did I allow myself to gloss over the next few pages, and not feel like I
was slighting myself. Actually, it was quite liberating to realize, I could
return the piece of crap, without trying to read every word. Truth is, I didn't
make it past chapter one, by the time I *knew* he had *nothing* to teach me.
Anyway, the lesson to be learned had nothing to do with "Fine Carpentry", and
everything to do with not waisting my time.

AH> Those things are very important too.

Is it safe to say, an intuitive thinker uses their intuition, or is there a

I'm going to re-download your earlier post describing this business.

As far as reaching out of your comfort zone is concerned, I think it is doubly
hard with health issues, as - in this case - you have to put your trust, and
quite possibly your life solely in the hands of a professional. Fortunately,
the pros that were in charge of Nora's care, knew what they were doing, and not
only was it a learning experience for her, but the two big kids went through an
edumication too, let alone the edumucator herself. (RE: Nora's teacher.)

Knowing what a great experience I had on a few rivers in my youth, I can share
totally the exhilaration you must have experienced. The biggest pat on the back
belongs to the participants IMO. As I went through earlier about your
instructors, it *has* to be a huge team effort, with LOTS of knowledge, and
above all that, it HAS to appear to be effortless. The more it seems like a
`surfer dude' tossing boats in a lake, chances are there was a huge logistic
effort to assemble the manpower, and equipment necessary. Now, I wasn't there,
and I didn't interview the experts, so they may have been `surfer dudes'. They
would have to be extra stupid for that to happen though.

AH> exception of James Bradley! Nora has a list of
AH> the drum rudiments (with examples) in her band
AH> folder, however. She asked for it when she
AH> realized Dallas & I had one. There's no doubt
AH> she's our kid, and we're beginning to see the
AH> results of our own good work... [chuckle].

(-: Funny how that happens, isn't it?

JB> Welcome to the dichotomy that is me.

AH> My pleasure! I think that's one of
AH> the things I like about you. As one of our
AH> (intuitive) friends said about herself the other
AH> day, "I see issues from both sides & others say
AH> I'm 'indecisive'." I can relate... it happens
AH> to me all the time. And because I can't be sure
AH> which side of the coin I'm going to see until I
AH> actually see it, you're an endless source of
 AH> fascination. :-))

I'm sure I mentioned I was the shy kid. Forever, my parents wanted me to be as
bold as a bomb. I grew into that a bit, but mostly, I became perceptive of
others, via body language, and when possible, reading between their lines. The
biggest thrust/catch phrase in development those days, seemed to be whether you
were the "leader", or the "follower". I was more than content to be the "second
lieutenant", as I watched the #1 absorb most of the hostilities, and again, I
learned a lot about reading people. (Yes, we were a little terrible. Some would
say "little terrors." B-)

For a time, I was even striving to be that "leader" but I was totally
uncomfortable doing it. Parents and teachers were heartbroken, but I knew the
value in being #2. "No, *you* go first, big shot!" <LOL> Mind you, #2 had its
drawbacks, but it makes blending into the woodwork that much easier.
