A park north of San Diego has a running Steam engine they run
periodisly. They also have a "Corvair Powered"(the cost of settin
up a Power Plant and trolley lines is not in theri budget) Antique
Street Car they run on occasion.

 On the Static Display of Steam engines the SAn Diego Railroad Museum
 out in Campo California has both the one form the San Diego County Fair
 Grounds adn the Imperial County Fairgrounds. The SDA&E 104 that was at
 Del Mar CAlifornia is fairly well damaged by the years of Salt Air
 exposure. The one in the Imperial Valley Deseret, Southern Pacific
2353, was in fairly good shape becuse of the ideal dry climate there.
and after a 9 year restoration project, that I worked three days a week
for about 6 years, it was made operational. We operated it for about
three years. The last FRA mandated shutdown and inspection showed quite
a bit of Boiler cracking arrond the "Stay Bolts" and some in the
Froward Boiler corners. The extimated boiler repair cost starting at
$250,000 is a bit steep for the budget so it has been made a Static
Display for now.

As far as moving Steam Engines to another Static Display location I have
a few pictures of the Moveof the Union Pacific 833 engine from Salt Lake
City to Odgen Utah sling under a humginious I Beam and pulled by lone
large Diesel Tractor and Pushed by another. The "system" with 96 wheels
total supporting the weight o nthe roadbed was moved via I-15.

I recently recieved pictures of an even more amasing move of a Union
Pacific BIG BOY engine in Omaha Nebraska to a different location. That
is 500 TONS worth of steam engine. It was Jacked up and a self propelled
wheel set of 144 Wheels placed under it. During the move they broke one
axle trying to cross the UP and BMSF Main Line tracks through Omaha
shutting it down for many hours.
