Having never watched Dr. Who, I can't comment on the Dalek vs. the
Borg.  However, while we wait for Kevin's detailed review of
"Daedalus", I'll make a few comment of my own.

Overall I liked the episode, though it wasn't what I expected.  I
can't say what it is I was expecting, but this episode surprised me.
I thought it would be closer to "The Ultimate Computer" TOS episode,
where Erickson would be trying some new technology that would go
wrong.  At first it seemed that way, but the surprise twist came when
we find out his son has been trapped in a transporter carrier wave for
fifteen years.  Unfortunately for me, it just wasn't believable.  It's
one thing for Scotty to have been in a transporter pattern buffer loop
for 85 years, but this guy was supposedly drifting around in space due
to a subspace anomaly?  Too far fetched, IMO.  Ironically, just a few
days ago I watched the Voyager episode "Jetrel".  The parallels are
obvious.  Like Erickson, Jetrel tries to save people using the
transporter, though Erickson was going after one person while Jetrel
was trying to save thousands.  Plus, Jetrel only thought of the
transporter at the last minute.  Still, the similarities were glaring
having watched the two so close together.  There was nothing said
about Erickson's daughter being held accountable for her role in the
deception.  I assume she will be facing some kind of punishment as
well.  I thought the idea of a father not being able to let his son go
was very well done.  Trineer did a great job as always, turning from
hero worship to resentment to anger.  It appears the T'Pol and Trip
relationship is over, or at least moved to the back burner, judging by
their exchange in Engineering.  This episode was good, but not as good
as the Vulcan trilogy.
