Ärende: Demise of the 'Prise

While warping back to my listening post I am sending this subspace note on 
the cancelation of Enterprise.

With a nearly 40 year legacy for Trek it has been a long journey indeed.  I 
must have an adult form of ADD as I rarely follow any TV series for more 
than a couple of seasons before losing interest.  Trek has been the notable 
exception holding my interest for four decades.  The Voyager years were a 
challenge for most of us, but, as pointed out here, there were some gems 
among the debris that kept the series alive--just barely at times.

Enterprise has had its false steps as well, and its a shame as just when 
they seem to have found their way its canceled.  This season shows what 
they could have been doing all along--help build the federation with aliens 
that we already know from TOS were early Federation adopters like the 
Andorians and the Tellerites. Instead we spent so much time fighting 
Daniels temporal war and tossing continuity to the warp winds.

But this may be a good time to take a break from Star Trek, sand possibly a 
fresh crop of writers can bring new and better stories in some future 
incantation.  That won't be easy, though, as the Trek universe has been 
pretty well defined over these last four decades leaving little wiggle room 
left for new concepts.  Of course we could always dispense with continuity.

My listening post is coming up, so I am dropping out of warp and returning 
to radio silence.
