Yesterday, I started reacing the new Trek novel, "World of Deep Space Nine,
Volume 3."  This three part series focuses on the species most closely
associated with DS9 (like Trills, Bajorans, Cardassians, the Dominion, etc.)
in the post-DS9 series universe.  I've said before -- and, as a tangent I
mention it again here -- these novels really capture the feel of the series
and provide a nice continuity to carry on our favorite DS9 characters.

Like the other two books in this series, Volume 3 takes the form of two
novellas, one focusing on the Dominion and the other on Ferengi society.
The Ferenginar story, "Satisfication is Not Guarenteed," was written by
Keith R.A. Decandido, who has becom a major Trek novelist over the past few
years.

While I was reading his acknowledgements (hey, I bought the novel, I might
as well read every last word...), I got a surprise when a saw a familiar
name.  He started by thanking his editor, his agent, the cast and writers of
DS9, his fellow Trek authors, etc.   Then I read this sentence: "Gratitude
also to Tracy L. Hemenover."

I'm sure a few out there reading this are saying, "Tracy who?"  However, I
think the majority of long timers here (certainly the RIMErs and I think she
participated in Fido, too) remember Tracy.  Back in the good old days,  when
echomail still drew 75-100 message a day, Tracy was one of DS9's biggest
proponents, along with myself.  She eventually had to give up echomail, like
so many others, but remained in the fan community on the Internet, including
putting out a DS9 encyclopedia on the web
(http://ds9encyclopedia.0catch.com).

In any case, I thought people around here might want to know that Tracy got
a mention in a DS9 novel...
