Proponents of that OS frequently argue that *anyone* could install Windows
and get it running. I am willing to admit that it does take *some*
computer savvy to get Slackware installed.

I can't remember right now, and don't feel like firing up the installer,
but Slackware offers several installation choices, like FULL, STANDARD,
MENU, CUSTOM, and so forth. Some of these allow you to walk away and let
the machine do it.

I always recommend a simple slicing system for newcomers. A swap-slice is
always a good idea, IMHO. Then, a single slice with the entire OS on it,
and the remainder of the disk unsliced. Slice this space later and mount
it where you need it.

Once you have some experience, you can start putting the OS on separate
slices from the start. And the slicing arrangement depends on the
intended use of the machine, so it won't be the same all the time.

I agree.
