In situations where somebody calculates with
pencil and paper. The person unlikely would go
further than using 3.14 for pi. At seldom cases
3.1415
The last is extremely easy to remember, as just
ad one to 14 to have the next 2 digits.
In visual basic or any other programming, a
presion of 6 decimal-digits on pi would only be
picked by very few programmers -I think. Most
programmers would pick the full presion containable
in the Double for pi.
It is a bit annoying have to paste in this full
presion of pi, when one in programming have
to use it, and wants to declare a Const of it.
-But only compared to a situation where the
programmer was able to remember it -that is,
writing it down off top of the persons head.

Personly, I like the OPs 4*Atn(1) solution, as
it gives the full presion obtainable in a double.
The problem of not able to assign it to a constant
can easely be solve an other way. Having
declared a Public variable - piV - then loading
it with 4*Atn(1) in the Main Sub or the FormLoad.

By the way, one OP above writes pi = 3.14159625
pi is 3.14159265 when using this presion. Using
4*Atn(1) relieves type-in error, right.

Would I use it myself. No, because I remember
the full presion 3.14159265358979. I made up
some rules to type it directly off the memory.
It's most effective one self makes up rules for
remembering. The really score to remember rules
is to bind the rule to one another thing in ones
memory.
Here what I do myself.:
I never forget 3.14
Rule nr.1:
Get the next two digits by adding 1 to 14
Now having 3.1415
Rule nr.2:
Make operations on the last four digits 1415
Inter-change the two outer digits having 5411
Apply the same rule again on another 1415,
again having 5411, but this time also inter-change
the to midt digits, now having 5141
On these two derived numbers 5411 and 5141
Add the digits on each 2 by 2, that is 92 and 65
Now we have 3.14159265
I still need 6 digits. Well, I need more rules.
But too much rules -and I forget rules, so:
What about 360, is not there 360 degrees a
full turn round a circle. -Can I forget that, no!
I just have to remember to subtract 2 from 360
degrees -that is 358.
I now have 3.14159265358
Now I only need the last 3 more digits.
I can't forget 999. I just have to correct
the mith digit. I will correct it the same
way as previous -by subtract 2.
Now I have 3.14159265358979

It's been working for me in years.
Perhaps it would't work for others!.
