You probably should wait before doing anything.  What I would suggest is 
after awhile of use, to make an image of the contents of the hard drive 
using Ghost, Drive Image, True Image, etc. and then remove the hidden 
recovery partition.  You can use Partition Magic 8.01 to remove the 
hidden partition and expand drive c to encompass the entire hard drive.

Or, you can use PM 8.01 to change the format of the HDD from NTFS
to FAT-32, divide the HDD into smaller partitions, and at the same time 
remove the hidden recovery partition.  That's basically what I did with 
my Toshiba notebook after I used it for awhile.  Even though my Toshiba 
came with recovery CDs, I will never use them.  I have a current image 
backup available at all times on my external USB 2.0 HDD.

The Norton program is probably time limited (90 days).  I would remove 
it now and install Avast or AVG before NAV gives you problems.  The same 
goes for any other demo software like Office 2003, etc.  As for the 
burning software, the IBM program is probably all you'll need.
