Looks fine.  BTW..  if you haven't noticed, nntp-method doesn't truncate the
subject line that many QWK-method processes do.  I changed the subject to
"nntp replies, wifi speeds 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0" for this thread.  Anyone
using nntp will see the whole thing.  Non-truncated subject lines are
another fine advantage of nntp imho.

I don't really scrutinize my wifi speeds.  My plain a/b card seems to always
use the b, although the router it connects to (at work) supports g.  I seem
to recall getting 5meg files in about 10 to 15 seconds, depending on the
website.   I've seen windows file transfer report between 250kbps and
500kbps at various times. File transfers across the network (between pcs) is
reasonable.  We use MS Access.  A Win98 pc is the "server".  The data
transfers within Access fairly quick because we just move the data and not
the "front end" (ie. the forms and user interface).  We store a copy of the
"front end" on each pc.  Transfers of large files between my wifi'd laptop
and any other local pc is roughly 1meg /sec or slightly faster.

Sorry to hear that.  I have no idea.  But my pc has suddenly decided to not
allow sharing any folders on the network!   This was working fine very early
on for about 4 months.  But suddenly, last week, my usual network share is
nolonger visible to anyone.  I use "simple networking" on my laptop.  Good
enough.  No hidden folders.  I just used the default \SharedDocs folder for
everything.  Now, it's kaput.  Other than that, the XPp TP41p is working
absolutely great. I use it 90% of the time!  My poor WinME desktop is lucky
if I turn it on twice a week for a few minutes.  My plan is to park the old
WinME's 250gig hdd in an external enclosure and use that with the laptop so
that I can access the files on it.   Except for the larger 17" LED screen, I
don't miss the WinME desktop pc very much at all.

I still haven't unpacked and tested my replacement USR modem.  But once I
do, and test it with one of the DI-713p routers, I'll probably use the
laptop 100%.
