I had a Simulat Experience with a Simular eMachine, Identical to yours with
512meg PC2100 ram, 80gb HD 1.7MHz Celeron CPU,
I added another 512Meg PC2100 Ram chip and a second Muffin Fan under the power
Supply to Cool the Box..

two years ago the CPU fan failed an Cooked the Motherboard..
eMachine Tech support wanted $350.00 Plus S&H for a replacement CPU/motherboard

I checked Best Buy and Fry's Electronic for parts and the end results was
$300.00 or more, I ended up Buying a Refurbished Compaq Presario sr5027CL, with
250Meg HD, 2.6GHz CPU AMD 64bit 4000, 1GB DDR2 Ram, LightScribe DVDRW, Nvidia
GeForce 6150Se video, Vista Home Premium Sp1, Network card, Speakers, Keyboard
Mouse for $345.00
