I am not aware of an efficient method of using a riser card
within an IBM/Intel platform tower computer that was not
_designed_ to use a riser. 

OTOH I have seen, over the years, computers with the case off
that had daughterboards extended above the other circuitry to
allow aditional hardware and even individual computer chips
standing on very long 'legs' because they were not the original
equipment and were too large to fit into the socket provided.
The Radio Shack Color Computer had several methods of extending
it's 'slot' to allow addtional 'plugins' (one from Radio Shack)
and I _think_ there was a similar adaptor for the APPLE II at
one time? 

Personally I would utilize an additional computer if my needs
were such that one computer could not accomodate every need
that I had. :-)
