It's not really the code requirement as such....but it seems as the FCC lowers
the bar, while there is a temporary increase in the number of hams, the quality
goes down....I'm agraid it's sinking to the Good Buddy level.

My HF antenna is down...and since I am not an extra, what's available to me on
80 is really restricted.

Well, you don't have to "change channels" if you're on the repeater.

That's an understatement....Back when you could read Fido echomail on the web
easily, I made some comments that the kind of stuff that went on in the
Cesspool echoes was an embarassment to Fidonet...people kept on acting like
dimbulbs.

I suggested to many that they simply vacate those echoes, and let the bad folks
play on their own.....but they stayed.

It struck me that unlike ham radio, that can and does provide services and
advancements for society, much of Fidonet is simply self-serving....a hobby
that simply strokes the ego.  As such, it's possible that it can represent a
very distorted view.

Anyway, I withdrew from a lot of echoes, and then after what I felt were some
arbitrary and silly rulings from the new IC and the current ZC, coupled with
the Ward charade, I turned in all my Fidonet administrative chips,,,

Even now the nodelist entry for the Echolist Robot is inaccurate....and so far
netmails asking for a correction have gone unanswered.

Out of frustration I setup some IRC channels ,.,,, and now and again I get to
talk to folks who I have met here in Fidonet.

Just the other day, a Fidonet sysop used one of the IRC channels to ask if I
could send him a current nodelist...I emailed him one, and wondered how
dydfunctional his link was if he had to use IRC to ask someone who isn;t active
to send him a nodelist.

Yep....and since nothing that's said will change the world, there is no need to
pay attention to it, repsond to it, or be concerned about it.
