RW>> w sag to your knees...mine is on it's way there.

CS> Too late <g>. Naw, it's a 'mummy tummy' but not too bad. I weigh
CS> 127 at 5'1" which means I could stand to lose a few, but not bad.

RW> Not bad at all. That was my high school weight about the time I gradua

I bet you were taller though! Still, it's a decent 9/10 size. I spent most of
my younger years being terribly underweight. I prefer a few curves.

RW>> Hmmmm. What's the maximum time limit for that run? I've seen a lot
 RW>> of

 CS> 18:15 I think? Might be 17:15. They reduced it a bit ago. 15:14
CS> isnt blazing speed and a tall person can almost speedwalk that? I
CS> believe men in my age group get about 16:20 (or slightly less than a
CS> minute off). The longer legs they have more than offset that
 CS> difference.

RW> LOL! They have the criteria wrong then. They should measure a person's
RW> stride and figure that into the time allowed. Those with long legs wou
RW> have to run it in a shorter time than short stride people.

True, but they don't. It *would* be a fairer test, but it's I guess, a bit
harder to write up a test that way. A 6ft tall guy gets about a minute less
than I do in the same age catagory.

They are looking at a new test variation that has no height issues. Stationary
bicycle based. If they get that one working right, it will be a good option
for me. The problems right now from what I have heard, is they made it much
harder than the run, to pass?

CS> Wince, I've seen some do that. Most don't and Don stayed active so
CS> at 57, he's in decent shape. We have a home lifecycle machine which
CS> we both use and we walk alot out here. Havent used the car since I
CS> came back. Work is about 1.3 miles away.

RW> As long as the weather cooperates, that's a good walk. Wouldn't want t
RW> that in inclimate weather though.

I do it in all weathers. When we lived 3 miles from work, I didnt own a car. I
do however have a second bicycle for when the main one is in the shop. I have
some good rain gear. Now that we are closer, the bike isnt as useful so I
seldom break it out.

I did just do the car tax though so we can sell it. We already have a buyer
for 1,500$ which isnt bad since I paid 500$ for it. The inspection then ws
due in 3 days but it's good now for next 14 months. It's the inspection out
here that costs, normally close to 1,000$ every 2 years. Can be much higher
if there's something wrong as it has to be fixed to pass. The inspections
here are considerably more detailed than anything stateside but the upshot is
cars rarely break down on the road. I think I've seen 2 or 3 in the 6 years
out here. Once I found the right building for paying my road tax, it took
less than 3 mins to do it and no line. The japanese are very efficient about
such things.

RW> I was told by a nurse the other day that they and doctors who walk the
RW> floors of hospitals have problems like that. Always on their feet, the
RW> circulation isn't what it should be.

Yes, steel decks on ships gives us a much higher incidence of knee problems
than the average populace. Mine are considered 'ok' by Navy standards (IE: I
don't need surgery). Safety boots prevent foot injury but create additional
'stress' because they are heavy with steel plates and such in them.

CS> days but I go at a very slow pace. Probably a 20 min 1.5mile run
 CS> pace <g>.

RW> On your toes?

Naw, flat footed runner here.
                                       xxcarol
