I read a statistic that said one out of five Americans move in a given
year.  I wonder if that factors in military moves, which probably
account for the largest number.  Very few of my childhood friends moved
during our schooling years; we had occaisional transfers in and out but
not that many.  And, most of my classmates are still in the area.

I know whan RAcehl got married and moved out, we got a lot of calls
asking how to do this or "grandma's recipe for that", I think as an
excuse to talk.  When Deborah moved out, she stayed near enough by to
come over quite often, until we moved over here.  Since her deployment
and return, she's picked up the phone more frequently to let us know
this, that or t'other.

Our girls took it as a matter of course, since before Steve went in the
Army, we lived in NC and all the rest of the family lived in NY.  It was
closer, true, so the grandparents came down at least once a year.  We
tried to get up to NY off and on but it wasn't always possible to do so;
in the 8 years before Steve went into the Army, we made it up for
Thanksgiving twice an Christmas twice.  It's been about that many times
since he went in; the last time we were with extended family was
Christmas, 1999 because Steve & I had gone up the week before for his
parent's 50th anniversary celebration.

Yes, and Steve & I like a lot more things than our parents do.  Part of
it is from our travels, part from living apart from the rest of the
family and willing to try various new foods.

OK! (G) Steve designed the "signature" for my closer.  BTW, a bit of
good news--I rescheduled the orthopedic appointment for next Tuesday
(22nd) from the 25th.  That way, if something more needs to be done with
the foot, I'll have a few days of "wiggle room".  The receptionist at
the clinic said something about "you know it won't be with Dr. (the one
that last messed me up" and I told her that I'd rather not be seeing him
anyway. (G)
