Hi Carol,

RH> MSGID: 1:396/45.28 4f95510b
RH> REPLY: 6:757/1 c5648208
RH> Hi Carol,

CS> Hehe I think maybe I hit back where I was sorta here.

Crazy computers; they do exactly what they're supposed to when you hit a
key, regardless if it's the key you meant to hit or not. (G)

RH> replacement for the damaged part.  It's smoking a couple of game hens;
RH> squash is in the oven, dressing will go in the oven in a bit and the
RH> pumpkin roll is reposing in the fridge. Simple but filling.

CS> Had a wonderful but simple dinner here. Canned Asparagus (hey, we
CS> find it quite fine for us!), Pork Chops (marinaded the ay in the
CS> fridge), Rice-a-roni (now and again, yes, we like it. Don added
CS> mushrooms to it and used the canned mushroom water for the 'broth'
CS> using also the canned asparagus water for the rest needed).

I tend to reuse the mushroom water too. (G) But, won't buy canned
asparagus unless I'm really desparite--did once and hated it. I guess
part of that comes from living in Germany for 6 years and enjoying the
fresh white asparagus every spring.

CS> Kamehemeha. My spelling is probably a bit off after all these years
CS> for us. Left there in 1989.

RH> Likelike (pronounced lee-key lee-key) and Kamehameha; you were close
RH> which isn't bad for being gone for so long. Most folks just referred
RH> the latter highway as "the Kam highway". Advertiser one time ran an

CS> Yeah. I remember that. Kam Highway. H1 actually on part of it I
 CS> think?

No, they run pretty close together at some points tho. That way, if H1
is closed for an accident (as per usual), traffic can be rerouted onto
the Kam, backing that up for miles on end. Really, no secondary back up
roads on most of Oahu.

CS> Could have had something to do (his smiles) with the fact that later
CS> Don told me I had my bathrobe on inside out.

RH> And the report of it probably spread thru the hotel staff. (G)

CS> naw, prpbably happened too often for it to be a news item <g>.

Especially for newlyweds. (G)

CS> Oh, we did go to the 'party' early evening before we went to our room.
CS> You know, Don Ho and all that. Longest married couple, newest
CS> married couple (we won that one easily being just 2 hours and foks
CS> laughed as we quibbled the number of minutes). I think they had food

RH> We never saw Don Ho perform; he had a stem cells into the heart muscle
RH> proceedure done last year about this time in Thailand. From reports
RH> this spring & summer, it has done him good but he cut back on his
RH> performance schedule.

CS> Ah, well this was 1986. He was still performing regular then.

That was the year we went to Germany, still not planning to make the
Army a career.

CS> there. Pretty sure. All I really remember was Don in a grass skirt
CS> dancing on the stage for me.

RH> That's all you should remember at that stage of married life. (G)

CS> \sigh\ he was so cute!

He WAS (?) so cute? Not any more?

RH> Hawaiian Village once to see some friends who'd just arrived and short
RH> after we did and the "Jeopardy" try outs this past February but most
RH> times if we were in the area, we were at the Hale Koa.

CS> I didnt spend much time there either, which is why it remained
CS> 'special' for us. Every now and again, we'd take off and enjoy a day
CS> there. Didnt do it enough to destroy it as a 'special place' for us.

We only stayed the one night. Did stay at Turtle Bay once our first
year there but the room was paid for. One of the chaplains talked us
into attending a "Mars/Venus" retreat. Almost as New Age-ish as the one
we went to in Tucson shortly before going to HI.

CS> Turned cold again. Gonna freeze my ass of tomorrow night it looks
CS> like. We got warmer yesterday but it's getting cold again.

CS> roughly similar to Miami (maybe a bit north, but not as far as
 CS> Tallahasse).

RH> But no Gulf Stream or similar waters to moderate the temeprature.
RH> BRRRR!

CS> Yup. Wind sweeps down here from believe it or not, Siberia.

I can believe it. Nothing but a barb wire fence either, and somebody
left the gate open.

BTW, jst tok a pretty loaf of bread out of the machine. Nice and tall,
done on the short cycle with the bread yeast for whole grain breads and
no power failures. Smells Soooooooooo good!
