:-}}   That was sometimes the way it was when we lived in England in the
mid 70's. Gail had a mesh bag that collapsed down to almost nothing. She
carried it in a purse for occasions when the store did not offer bags.

The warehouse stores here do not offer bags.  You bag it yourself
(usually as you put it into your car trunk or storage area).  We have
some plastic "milk" cartons that we use -- they are large enough to hold
several bags worth.

I find it difficult to understand how a meat counter would have the
nerve to add onto the price that way.  Although the plastic tray the
meat is in is very light, they are supposed to discount that weight and
only charge for the meat -- I think that is called "tare" weight.

If I get money back from a credit card transaction, it acts as a cash
advance and starts costing me interest (at a pretty high rate) from the
day of the transaction until the payment is received.  The cost of goods
does not incur any interest cost until after the bill is presented and
the due date is passed without full amount not being paid for.  That
never happens with us.  If I use a debit card for either sort of
transaction, there is no interest charge but the money immediately is
deducted from our supporting account.


MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Firecracker Salad
 Categories: Salads, Side dish
      Yield: 6 servings
 
      1 tb Sesame seed, toasted
      2 tb Distilled white vinegar
      2 ts Sugar
      1 ts Minced fresh ginger root
      4 ts Kikkoman Soy Sauce
      1 c  Julienned radishes
      1 c  Julienned cucumber
      4 c  Finely shredded lettuce
           -- (iceberg)
      2 ts Minced fresh cilantro
           -OR- parsley
 
  Mix first 5 ingredients, stirring until sugar dissolves.  Combine
  radishes, cucumber and 3 Tbsp. dressing; cover and refrigerate 30
  minutes, stirring occasionally.  Toss lettuce with cilantro in large
  bowl.  Pour radish mixture and remaining dressing over lettuce; toss
  lightly to combine.
