Hi Janis,

JK> > You need to be flexible when kids hit the teen years. Keeping a
JK> good > sense of humor helps too.

JK> Definitely (g) And don't we find that it's true in most things :) :)
JK> I'll never forget how Ron made me laugh when I was first was told that
JK> I had MS.. I was 24 at the time.. with two little ones.. 2 and 4 mos..
JK> I told Ron that I thought I couldn't hear out of my right ear..
JK> speak into both my ears separately so I could tell.. He did, and in
JK> one ear he said, "I love you"... I said, 'Ok, I heard that fine' (with
JK> joy).. then I turned my head and he mumbled into my other ear
JK> MRRUMPF.. I rolled on the floor laughing :) :)

Funny! You were probably expecting him to repeat what he said with the
first ear. (G) BTW, the blood work today was good, some skin irritation
in a couple of spots (but not as bas as it could be) and I'm on the home
stretch. They're doing some specifically targeted radiation and I
finish on March 7.

JK> > Other than chain places like Red Lobster, what do you have? I'm not
JK> > counting the fish sandwiches at places like McDs either. (G)

JK> There are a few I've found with google so Ron and I are going to check
JK> them out. I'm glad I looked (g). At least one of them sounds great.

Checked it out yet? Any on line reviews that you can check before going?

JK> > Trouble is, we use the same computer for Fido. I just get mine

JK> That works (g). We've always had separate computers since we both
JK> program, so I think even if he were interested or had the time, he'd
JK> do it on his own system and name :)

I don't do much other on the regular system but, as Steve mentioned to
me, use computers in the microwave and my sewing machines. They're more
fun. (G)

JK> > And, I presume we'll meet him at the picnic, as well as your
JK> daughter > and her family?

JK> Not sure really..Possibly (g). Lauren may not want to come because of
JK> the food problems and trying to get a toddler to understand that he
JK> can't have something because it will make him sick (g)... My son will
JK> be here, but his girlfriend is extremely shy.. I'm sure he'll be
JK> around though :) He's actually very social compared to Ilana. She's
JK> a really neat girl though and very intelligent. Both her parents are
JK> doctors and I always thought that was interesting. Anyway, it will be
JK> great if all of them decide to come. Perhaps they will if they are
 JK> hungry (g).

I can understand that; I'll try to bring something toddler safe if I
can. If I know of a special need, I'll try to accomodate it in what I
fix for a gathering. The peach cobbler last year was an exception; we
wanted the others to see how we've adapted the whole grains (in this
case, wheat) into our cooking without loss of taste.

JK> > Deborah corrected one of her Drill Instructors when she went to
 JK> Basic > Training.  He incorrectly counted a cadence sequence wrong;
JK> she showed > him how to do it properly.

JK> hehe.. that's neat.. Sadly, Lauren's experience didn't end up so well
JK> as far as military 'service' and the national guard went because of
JK> her allergies. She was accepted at Texas A&M, hoping to go from there
JK> problem.. Somehow she was able to convince them that she'd be ok (I
JK> really don't remember, but I think it might have been my Dad's record,
JK> and his navy buddies that helped), and was admitted to Texas A&M.. it
JK> didn't last more than a year, though sadly enough, and she still feels
JK> bad about that I'm sure. But what can you do.

That hurts; we've friends in HI who's one son wanted to join the Army.
He hadn't had asthma problems for years--until he got to South Carolina
for his basic training and then it came back so bad that they had to let
him go home with a "Thanks for the try" speech.

JK> > We got a tube to go on the kitchen center but never used it. Hmmmm,
JK> > thinking about making chicken sausage................

JK> Hehe.. that's the same thing I was thinking, besides knowing how easy
JK> it now to get grass-fed pork :)

I'll have to look harder around here. But, we might be able to find
some farmer that doesn't use the commercial feeds.

>> Yeah, that is a really good idea.. "Stay out" signs would have helped

JK> > The tape was just as effective. When we moved into here, I put
JK> signs on > the rooms upstairs to designate where boxes were to go. I
JK> still had to > dig up my cook books but I knew what room they were in.

JK> Don't remind me about cookbooks (laugh)... boy I wonder who got those
 JK> darn books (g). It wasn't me :) :)

I know; we lost a box of stuff moving from CA to TX, then a load of
clothes at a laundromat in TX. Easier to replace stuff but still.....

>> > It does add to your perspective of the world. Plus, as you know from
>> > your move to KY, you get to try new foods--just from a different
