Let's just say that for me blood sugar of 80 is a disaster.
For my friend Judy, who's generally hypoglycemic, 80 is the
line between function and nonfunction.

Too low by a factor of 2 or 3.

  But, that's the time I did the
 DD> diabetic coma thing and thought I'd stroked out. At the ER they told me

Tsk. Temporary, I imagine. They gave me the numeric scare the other
day, saying that my EF was 16, and that people who had theirs go down
to 10 generally didn't live much longer.

 DD> They also dropped my BP meds to 20mg of Lisinopril ... exactly half
 DD> what I had been taking and they kicked the 5mg amlodipine (Norvasc). 

I'm at 50 metoprolol and 40 x 2 valsartan. The side effects haven't
caught up with me yet. If they do, the dosage halves immediately.

 ML> As long as I fluctuate between 100 and 300, I'm okay.
 ML> No kidney damage, no retinopathy, no neuropathy, yet.
 DD> I've lost about 15% of my kidney function(and holding) because of
 DD> ignoring high blood pressure. Other than that .... (knocks wood).

Nicholas, whom some of you remember, is down below 10% - but he
has only one kidney. So he's a bunch worse off than anyone else
I know. He served us a ham day before yesterday, followed by
cheese board. I think he partook of full portions, as well.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.01

      Title: Meatloaf Stuffed with Ham and Cheese
 Categories: Meats, Nets
      Yield: 8 servings

  1 1/4 lb Ground sirloin
      1 lg Onion, finely chopped
      1 ts Prepared mustard, preferably
           -Dijon
      1 cn Tomato soup (10 3/4 oz)
      2 tb Chopped fresh parsley
      1    Green bell pepper, finely
           -chopped
      2 lg Eggs, lightly beaten
      1 c  Plain bread crumbs
    1/8 ts Salt
    1/8 ts Black pepper
      1    Garlic clove, minced
    1/2 ts Dried oregano

MMMMM--------------------------STUFFING-------------------------------
      6 sl Boiled ham (thin slices)
      1 c  Mozzarella cheese

MMMMM--------------------------TOPPING-------------------------------
      1 tb All-purpose flour
      3 sl Mozzarella cheese

  Preheat oven to 400'F. Lightly oil a 9x5x3" pan.

  In a large bowl, combine the meatloaf ingredients, adding more bread
  crumbs if necessary, a tablespoon at a time, to make a firm loaf.
  Lightly spray a large piece of aluminum foil. Place the meat mixture
  on the foil, and form into a 12x8" rectangle.

  Arrange the ham on top of the meat, leaving a small margin around the
  edges. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the ham slices. Starting
  from the short end, carefully roll the meat mixture jelly-roll style.
  Seal the edges and ends.

  Place the loaf seam side up in the prepared pan. Sprinkle the top of
  the meatloaf with the flour. Bake 1 hour or until done. The center of
  the loaf will be pink because of the ham. Top the loaf with slices of
  cheese, then return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese
  melts. (Option: Broil the loaf to melt the cheese. Watch it
  carefully.) Source unknown.
