Hi Ruth,

>> > I see. and to train the brain you need to keep up the patterning (or

>> Yes, my brain will hopefully do this. It should. There is some

> As long as it works for now. It may "get the signal" at some point. I

Yes, meanwhile, I keep up with the excercises. Eventually one of us will win..
either my leg or me .. I'm betting on me (grin).

> presume you have some sort of kitchen stool or chair for use when you

Yes, I have one, but it's the same for me as far as usefulness as you mention.
If I can just get it done, I know that once I sit down, I'll recover
(eventually).

>> > I had to learn how to walk again

>> Yes, very true.

> So keep on with the exericises--get that brain retrained!

hehe that's my aim :) I really DON'T want to have to use a brace. They are
very different these days, so thin you can hardly see them, and plastic not
metal like those big clunky things from the 'old days'. But I'd still rather
not have to do that. The therapist is talking about one for my leg or
alternately one for my ankle to fix the 'drop foot' that's developed. We're
working on strengthening my ankles and that's a rough one right now.

>> Heh that's true (g).. though once I'm in the kitchen, I'm ok. :)

> Understood. I'm moving around so much that I'd probably find it more of
> a hinderance, at least right now. Probably 30 years from now I'd find I

You and me both (grin)

> broke it again, nothing could be done to fix it properly. I broke it

Thank goodness!

> Told the doctor at

Now that's a shame (g). Someday maybe. :)

>> Now a representative from the company that Ron works for, is also
>> getting involved. She's the company's advocate so to speak.. she
>> handles any problems the employees and their families may have with
>> Aetna.. She called me today to let me know she's working on them, and
>> we should have an answer very soon. Hopefully a good answer (g).

> Let's hope so. Let them have it, with all barrels! (G)

Still haven't heard from her, so now I'm starting to wonder if I should give
her another call.. don't want to be a pest but it seems like such an open and
shut case.. :(

>> Yes, people love that (grin).. In KY, I used to send in pumpkin bread,
>> peanut butter cookies, and raisin bread.

> Gave me a chance to do some fun baking without eating all the calories.

hahaha that sounds just like me (grin).. I love to cook, but am not crazy about
eating all the stuff I make (grin).. or eating in general.

>> ==Pumpkin bread==
>> 10" tube pan
>> Preheat oven to 350F

> About like mine but I use a 5x9 loaf pan.

That recipe is a big bread/cake.. so it really needs a 10" tube.

Take care,
Janis
