Of course we started late and lazy, this being the day of rest
in our weekend of rest. The Shipps arrived after breakfast (seems
that word has gotten out about the free breakfast at their hotel,
so a dubiously large number of people - some perhaps not really
guests there - took advantage of the spread), and the Hafflys
after church, so for a while I was the only one munching: snack
food for a couple hours, followed by a recap of the weekend
including leftovers from El Taco Loco, the Jackass sandwiches
(improved with standing, or was it because we were hungry enough
to appreciate them?), the rest of the pastrami.

We called as many echo people as we could reach, using Skype
where possible but wasting a couple percent of the Shipps' spare
minutes for the rest. 

The Hafflys' breads came out for lunch - I particularly enjoyed
the whole-wheat Portuguese-style sweet bread and had three
slices, three more than I normally eat of any kind of bread.

New treats included a boiled-down pear/apple/peach juice product
(fruit butter if you will) from Belgium and an extremely smelly
cheese from I believe South Africa. I had the former, which was
nice, but avoided the other. Also Royal Family brand mochi
desserts with three fillings, red bean (most traditional and
my favorite), black bean (not too different from red bean but
stronger and perhaps chocolatier, though some couldn't taste the
difference through the sesame seed coating), and peanut butter
(coated in crushed peanuts).

Rounding out the day - the venison jerky in its finished form,
and black-eyed peas that had stewed for a couple days in the
crockpot and then been augmented with smoked duck wings.

Steve and Ruth left in the late afternoon, as they hoped to be
within striking distance of home by nightfall.

I'd been up for doing more cooking, but it was pointed out to
me that there was plenty of food, the fridge not being able to
take any more contributions. So we just had more beers and chat
and turned in fairly early (before midnight anyhow).
