=============
Hi Hap,

-> hn> We went into "the city" occaisionally. Mostly
-> hn> the effort. Anne has gone into the city many
-> hn> more times than I...but her opinion is pretty

-> I wouldn't mind a trip or 2 in, with specific plans for what I wanted to
-> see/do. Otherwise, I'd rather stay away. Even smaller cities can be a
-> big pain getting in and around sometimes. One advantage of them tho is
-> that the restaurant choices are wider.

hn> I think the restaurant choices in NYC are
hn> as close to infinite as I can imagine! I have
hn> friends who love to go to "The City" and stay
hn> on Manhattan the whole time. I just don't find
hn> large cities that enjoyable. Seattle is an
hn> "almost large" city (grin) and at times THAT'S
 hn> too big.

I hear you there! Raleigh is our near by "big city" and too big at
times. We've only gone to small parts of it--where we needed to for
medical appointments, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, computer and
fabric stores--you get the idea.

-> hn> My sister in in Charleston this weekend. Evidently
-> hn> there is a tea plantation near there now...didn't
-> hn> know we had tea growing in the americas!!

-> I think I first read about it give or take about 15 years ago in the
-> Smithsonian magazine.  I wouldn't mind a tour--in cooler weather.

hn> My sister, loves the heat and I mean LOVES!
hn> It seldom gets too hot for her tastes! I can not
hn> imagine me going to Charleston in July...I've done
hn> it before and have sweltered through (too) many
hn> South Carolina summers. I would not mind visiting
hn> in say March, when the weather is actually rather
 hn> nice! Same for October...mostly!

I know; we visited Charleston several times when Rachel & David lived
there. Summer was hot and sticky but March was really nice. Last time
we were there was May of 02 for their college graduations & David's
commissioning.

-> -> Yes, and most anything could be a treat. While we were at my parents,
-> -> we got some sparkling flavored water. Robert wanted a taste one night

-> hn> Have not had any of them in a great while
-> hn> and generally prefer water, coffee, or tea
->  hn> when offered.

-> We hadn't had any in a long time either. These were Polar brand; we
-> used to buy them when we were stationed at Fort Devens.

hn> When Amanda was here, we picked up two small
hn> (17.2 oz) bottles of "Cascade Ice" sparkling water.
hn> 0 calories, sodium free lemon lime flavored...basically
hn> carbonated water with some flavoring added. Not bad
hn> but at $1/bottle, I would have been just as happy with
hn> regular water, and perhaps a twist of lime (grin)

But worth the treat since Amanda was with you. (G)

-> hn> her visit! yesterday we set up a wifi
-> hn> network here at the house so when
-> hn> Annie comes home she can do wifi
-> hn> right here on the couch!

-> Spoiling both of your girls. (G) How's Annie's back doing?

hn> She's in New York so she's suffering mightily
hn> through the heat! She's being careful with
hn> her back and one of her cousin's who's going
hn> to be visiting today is a Doctor so he'll keep
hn> her on track if she needs it (grin)

Good; the heat is supposed to break today & be really nice tomorrow.
We're in western NY until Sunday, then take off for PA and south.

---
Catch you later,
Ruth
