Ärende: wedding tastes
======================
Last month my nephew got married in Ocean City MD (at the Quality Inn
Boardwalk), and as he is a chef, decided that he'd rather make the food
for his reception himself (with a little help from friends and family),
since it would be better and less expensive than having it catered...  
Most of the day was spent in cooking and getting things set up and
ready, of course...

I can't give a full report, as I didn't try everything (and didn't write
anything down for notes so it's all from memory), but here are some
highlights...  :)   

The dinner was served in the Penthouse Suite, where the bridal party was
staying.  The wedding had been held on the beach at 5pm, and the
reception was a while later, after pictures, etc...  


Various salads

Rolls

Spoonbread - A variant on cornbread that is very custard-y.  Very Good! 
I went back a couple of times for more, and I don't eat breads that
much.  Served with choice of real butter or margarine, I had the former. 

Cold shrimp, with a couple of sauces - these were boiled up in the
kitchenette of our hotel room, by his father...  the room was redolent
of shrimp all night...  ;)

Chicken breast with a choice of three sauces (a barbeque-type, a spicy
mustard and a sweet mustard) I had a bit of the chicken, but mostly
skipped the sauces.

Beef with a choice of mayo or horseradish - overcooked to my taste, but
understandable since had to be done ahead of time, sliced and kept warm

Various sauteed vegetables with various sauces on the side - another
hit, as they were done up very nicely.  Portabella mushrooms, asparagus,
zucchini, sweet onions, eggplant, maybe another one or two.

Some sort(s) of pasta

maybe some more stuff... there was quite a spread...  :)

He also made their wedding cake... three separate cheesecakes, of
graduated sizes.  One was key lime, one peanutbutter on chocolate, and I
forget what the other was... (I'll have to check with others who were
there, I guess.)  I had the key lime (the smallest of the three), and it
was very good.

There were also strawberry daiquiri jellybeans, light aquablue M&Ms, and
Ocean City saltwater taffy (of various flavors) to put together for
take-home favors...  also some homemade chocolate candy in a shell form,
packaged with some little round aqua candies to take home.

A nice wedding and reception...
