Oh yeah, Harker Heights is bad for speeding tickets.  I'd run people over there
as I was one of the few junior enlisted to have a car at the time to get booze
since Killeen is in a dry county.  After looking at a map of the Killeen area,
I realized that the town I was talking about was Nolanville, Texas, not
Stephensville (thinking of that town which is about an hour northwest of
Copperas Cove off of Highway 183).

A quote from Wikipedia about Nolanville: "At one point in the 1970s, because of
its reputation as a speed trap, the commanding general of Fort Hood declared
Nolanville off-limits to all military personnel.  Maps of routes around
Nolanville were posted in all company offices."  While it's no longer
off-limits, it's still not recommended you visit there and recommended you
don't go past there at night using the freeway. <G>

I just looked up "top 10 speed traps in Texas" using Google and found this:

Turns out that between 2000-2008, a tiny town (only 211 residends) named
Westlake, which looks like a northeastern suburb of Fort Worth, put out a
whopping 71,664 tickets with 81% of the tickets being speeding tickets.  The
total ticket revenue for the town was $8,919,460 with the total ticket revenue
per citizen being $42,272 and total tickets per citizen being 340.  Now if that
isn't a moneymaker, I don't know what is!

Interestingly enough, I didn't see Nolanville on there.  Maybe they've "flown
under the radar"...

Yeah, Golden Corral is good for having all sorts of interesting items on their
buffet.  My (now-ex) wife and I used to go to the one in Copperas Cove every so
often to get cheap ribs and steak.

I have never attempted to make corn dogs myself, however, with the love I have
of corn dogs and the high price to buy them in a store, I should definitely
look at making my own.  Last Christmas my parents gifted Maura and me with a
big 6-quart enameled cast iron Dutch oven so I have a good pan to do the deep
frying in...mmm...sounds good...haven't had breakfast yet (late riser today).

Here's the only recipe I have in my Meal-Master about making corn dogs
(searching by title):

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Corn Dog
 Categories: Meats, Sandwiches
      Yield: 6 Servings

    1/2 c  Yellow corn meal
    1/2 c  Flour
      1 t  Dry mustard
    1/2 t  Salt
      1 ea Egg, lightly beaten
      6 ea Skewers or sticks
      6 ea Frankfurters
      1 T  Sugar
      1 t  Baking powder
    1/2 c  Milk
      1 T  Melted shortening

  Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, mustard, baking powder and salt,
  mixing well. Add the milk, egg and shortening, mixing until very
  smooth. Pour the mixture into a tall glass. Put the frankfurters on
  sticks. Dip them into the cornmeal batter to coat them evenly. Deep
  fry in oil heated to 375 degrees until golden brown, about two
  minutes. Drain on paper towels.
