What is an Anderson Cooper? Some pompous twit or other, I suspect. My favourite
of catching some unintended action was a CBS correspondent (Barry Petersen, I
think) who intoned a sonorous news report from the balcony of a Cairo (Egypt)
hotel shortly after an attempted coup. When the report was done the camera
panned down and Mr. CBS was revealed to be wearing a nice sport coat, shirt,
tie and tighty whiteys. And that's all - no shoes or socks ... or pantaloons
either.

Try to get one with the mesh still intact. OR, if you get a solid - that the
fibreglass has not delaminated. And try to avoid the "buttonhook" style LNB
attachments. They look more elegant than the prosaic three or four leg fitments
- but are not nearly as stable.

You may also be given the 12' post on which the dish is mounted. You'll need
help with that. And a couple shovels, a sledgehammer, and possibly a
ome-along.

Discovered a Uniden 1100 satellite receiver in cleaning out some stuff
yesterday afternoon (my day off) but all the caps had leaked and needed
replacement with monolithics ... about U$85 just in parts. So it went off to
the local electronics recycler along with a couple of defunct glass tube
monitors. But, I came home with a Light-scribe DVD burner for my Gateway
laptop. So the trip was a success.

      Title: Jager-Eintopf (Hunter's Stew)
Categories: Venison, Stews, Fruits, Potatoes, Breads
      Yield: 4 servings

  1 1/2 c Onions; Minced
    1/4 lb Mushrooms; sliced
      2 tb Oil
1 lb Venison; Coarse Grind *
1 c Meat broth or stock
    5/8 ts Nutmeg; divided
    1/2 ts Worcestershire Sauce
      1 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Pepper
      3 md Potatoes
      3 tb Butter
      2 lg Eggs
      4 lg Tart apples
1/2 c Fine dry bread crumbs

  * Venison should only be ground once and be the leanest you
  can get.

In a frypan saute onions and mushrooms in vegetable oil
until soft. Add ground meat; saute mixture 3 to 4 minutes.
Stir in broth; bring to a simmer. Add 1/2 t nutmeg,
  worcestershire sauce, 1/2 t salt, and 1/4 t pepper.

Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water until
tender, about 30 minutes. Drain and put through a food mill
  or grinder. Beat in 2 T butter, 1/2 t salt, 1/4 t pepper.
Adjust seasonings to taste. Beat in eggs and remaining
  nutmeg.

Peel, core, and slice apples. Layer mixtures in a 1
1/2-quart buttered baking dish. Spread 1/3 of potatoes on
bottom of dish. Top with 1/2 of the meat mixture and 1/2 of
the apples. Continue with layers, ending with a layer of
  potatoes.

Sprinkle the top with bread crumbs, and dot with remaining
butter. Bake at 375øF/190øC. for 45 minutes and then at
  400øF/205øC. for 10 minutes more.
