It's  boring because around here all they broadcast is people talking in
rather monotonous voices.  The music is rare, and they never broadcast the
good stuff.  They don't even play classical here.  I'm generally about as
fond of political rants from either side as I am of gangrene.

One here does rebroadcast a lot of NPR.  They air reggae most of the time
otherwise - haven't listened to them since they started in with the NPR
stuff.

I don't think I've ever heard Prairie Home Companion over the air here. 
One college station is the only place in central Connecticut that plays
jazz.  They also air a lot of ethnic music besides the ever-present reggae. 
I've ended up jamming on Italian pop, polka, fados, etc as often as not.   
 
-> Almost all of the "Classic Rock" stations are playing the same 40 or 50
songs
-> and are programmed at a central feeder with local commercials and

-> breaks. We have on station that is locally programmed until the hours
between 7
-> pee em and 6 ayem. And we have one which is 100% local Dee Jays and 

Clear Channel at its finest.  Not.  The only hard rock station I listen to
at all is the last indie in the market.  The others... pffft.

-> - except for the odd House of Blues segment from Elwood Blues (Dan
Ackroyd).
-> Guess which one I listen to when I can't get any jazz or blues on my
vehicle
-> radio???

 I turn on the nearest handy baseball game if it's the right time of year. 
Beats the heck out of more reggae or salsa.  That's when I don't just shut
it off.
 
-> Of course in my own car I have an MP3 capable player and several jazz or
-> classic rock (lotta Bob Seger, Eagles, ZZ Top, Chuck Berry, Queen, etc)
CDs in
-> the glove box. Hardly ever flip over to FM.

No MP3 jack in mine, but then I don't own an MP3 player anyway.
