Definately a factor to be considered, especially in winter. Some of the
roads in that area can be pretty nasty in spots.

We generally get prepackaged name brand stuff (canned goods, yogurt,
paper goods) that's the same anywhere but a few pennies less at W-M.
Some (and here you have to be picky) of their house brand products are
good, others I wouldn't give you 2 cents for. Meats I get at Lowe's
generally. I get one OTC pharmacy product there (best price) and they're
the only store with somewhat (now greatly reduced) of a sewing
department. (Was in our W-M for the first time since I came back
yesterday; sewing department now is a shadow of its former self.
Jo-Ann's will get more business.)  I can get canning supplies there for
a good price as well.

I'll pick over produce thouroughly if I buy it there. Otherwise I'll buy
it at Lowe's but have come across some poor quality stuff there every
once in a while as well. The W-M here in Wake Forest is a nice one; I've
been in some that have been real dumps. That makes a difference too.

Not really practical to do a lift to the basement; it would cost more
because the stairs would need enclosing first. We've discussed moving
the laundry & freezer to the first floor but it's (so far) fallen on
deaf ears. They say it would involve too much re-arrainging and some new
plumbing. It can be done; they don't want to do it (yet).

I'm hoping they will have stuff I can work with, without getting too far
away from their bland/boring tastes. Don't know what shape the potatoes
are in, same with onions, what raw meats they might have (other than the
preportioned) and so on. Dad's not much of a rice eater so can't do a
lot there. He mentioned spaghetti for our arrival night; might grab some
of my herbs & spices to bring & add to the sauce.
