The life and health sciences are always in the process of
taking evidence and establishing trends, and if there is a
clear trend, medicine follows that. I have become sensitive
to salt; there are those (Shenk among them I think) whose
bodies don't care one way or another. Same apparently with
fat and cholesterol and sugar and a host of other things.

The days of the store brand being a clear loser are over.
There may or may not be a difference, and usually if there
is, the brand name is more reliable, but in general the
differences are minor and intermittent. As far as colored
sweetened water goes, it's your call.

 If I go out, I prefer to get caffeine-free Diet Pepsi if

You're in the competitor's home turf, after all.

I'm getting to the point myself, teethwise, but I doubt
I'd ever really fit in.

Ever since I ODed on the stuff in grad school, my response
has been strong if unpredictable.

Good for you. I was going to use the acronym (as I have in
the echo and elsewhere) but finally tumbled to the fact that
it has both the friendly and the unfriendly meaning.

      Title: Iced Lemongrass Tea
 Categories: Vietnamese, Beverages
   Servings:  4

           Stephen Ceideburg
    1/4 c  Chopped fresh lemongrass
           -tops or
      2 tb Dried flakes
      4 c  Boiling water
           Sugar to taste

  Preheat teapot with boiling water; discard water. Add lemongrass and
  boiling water, steep 8 to 10 minutes; strain. Allow to cool, sweeten to
  taste, and serve in tall glasses with ice.
