Well I just completed my first of many Hay River commutes on one.
They can be configured with 8 rows of four narrow seats to sit 32
but this one had just 6 rows of two seats with the rear and the
right hand side reserved for freight (held in place with cargo
netting, tarps and straps). Little in the way of amenities: bare
metal and rivets, cockpit doorway open at all times so you could see
and hear the pilot and co-pilot, a thermos jug for coffee and an
esky for juice, pop and water. As well as serving beverages, the
steward loaded the baggage, unloaded it and drove the shuttle bus to
the main terminal and then the downtown hotels upon arrival. No
security checks or boarding passes at either end, just a head count.
Boarding announcement was the pilot coming into the terminal and
saying, "OK, let's go".

The president of Buffalo air, "Buffalo Joe" maintains an office in
Yellowknife and a residence in Hay River, so he flies this run
himself and the schedule is fixed to suit his workday. Departs Hay
River at 7 AM sharp and departs Yellowknife around 5:30 PM (or 6 or
later if he has a busy day.) He is a notorious womanizer (he has
flirted with Roslind before, during and after her first marriage
when she lived in Hay River, still does actually). Sure enough while
the steward was dealing with our luggage and loading the van he came
into the passenger terminal and started chatting up the youngest and
prettiest passenger (So you're a student. What's your major? If
you're new to Yellowknife I can help show you around. Need a lift
downtown?)
