We like them now.  They saved stuff.  Sometimes too much stuff, but stuff.

You get two kinds who lived through that, the pack rats and the "everything
new"s.  The latter got to the end of the War, could finally afford and buy
new stuff, and never looked back.

Some of those can be worth money now too.  Old Pyrex, and especially Fire
King, in good shape can sell for a pretty penny.  A lot of Fire King ends
up in Japan, believe it or not.

Basic kitchenettes can be a useful thing.  A lot of places barely have a
microwave.

It makes everything so dirty, and you can't use both at the same time if
you have a gas stove.  Open flames and all that.  I'd rather have a hood up
there.
