Billy too has beaten the odds pretty well. More power to
the both of them.

The saving grace for me is that my oxygenation has been good,
in the 100% range - sometimes, according to the monitors, more,
which I don't understand.

Would, but as long as people are into the business for
prestige and money rather than because they are good at
healing and want to do it, incompetence and negligence will
be substantial issues.

I partially attribute my good pulmonary function (above) to
the fact that as a child I was deemed to have weak lungs and
was told because of this to never, under any circumstance,
sleep on my tummy, as my breathing apparatus was not strong
enough to tolerate the weight of my body. Of course, I slept
as close to on my tummy as I could, using my arms sometimes
as a buffer between me and the bed, eventually always sleeping
that way and presumably not dying from it. Probably my (not
conscious) exercise regimen helped rather than hindered me.
Also there was a decade or so of intense hiking right out
of college, turning my chest cavity downright robust. Probably
saved my butt these last couple years.

Not funny at all. So much humor is based on cruelty or at
least Schadenfreude.

It's okay, I like hot food.

      Title: Rosemary's Root Beer Tonic
 Categories: Beverages, Vegetarian
      Yield: 4 servings

      3 oz Sassafras Bark, dried             1/2 oz Ground Ginger
      2 oz Sarsaparilla, dried               1/2 oz Ground Cinnamon
      1 oz Dandelion Root, dried             1/4 oz Orange Peel, dried
      1 oz Burdock Root, dried

  This sweet, bracing drink from Rosemary Gladstar Slick is reminiscent of
  old-fashioned root beer, due to the sassafras.  It has a cleansing,
  revivifying effect from the dandelion, burdock and sarsaparilla.

  Mix together all ingredients and store in a tightly closed container. In a
  large pot combine 1 quart of water and 4 tablespoons of dry mixture. Bring
  to a boil, cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain and sweeten with
  honey or stevia (also called "sweet herb") if desired.

  Makes about 4 cups

  Variation:  For iced tea, chill the simmered mixture, then dilute it with 1
  quart of sparkling water.  Serve over ice with a twist of orange peel.
