Sez you. I have to be right next to an aircraft to read the
numbers. Sort of nixed my budding career in planespotting.

BDL, by the way, is 55th busiest in the US, according to
Wikipedia; 53rd according to itself, which claims a vague
"300 to 400" aircraft movements a day.

Which of course led me to look up the population rankings
of US cities - Springfield is 155, Hartford 200; were they
combined, the total would put you up right above Newark at 68.
Jacksonville is the most populous city I've not visited.
Moreno Valley, CA at 119 and 193365, is the biggest I've never
heard of. Interestingly, there's a tie at 112 and 197899 -
Aurora, IL, and Oxnard, CA.

I wonder how much fuel is wasted by such regulations. Of course,
the weather has been so weird lately that holding patterns are
pretty common, so air traffic has become an equal opportunity
annoyer.

HEARTY ITALIAN SAUSAGE SOUP
cat: main
servings: 4 to 6

1 lb Italian sausage, sliced
1 md onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 ts olive oil
28 oz chicken broth
28 oz water
15 oz cannelini beans
14 1/2 oz stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 c rotini pasta, uncooked
1 1/2 c baby spinach leaves
1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese

Cook sausage, onions, and garlic in oil in large saucepan
for about 10 min, stirring frequently. Add chicken broth,
water, beans, and tomatoes. Bring to boil. Stir in pasta,
cook 8 min or until tender. Remove from heat. Stir in
spinach, Cover. Let stand 5 min.

Top with mozzarella cheese. Serve with crusty Italian
bread and enjoy.
