There was a lot of pooh-poohing.. until it was noticed that it worked. 
Now one sees pressure point diagrams on the walls of primary care
doctors... including the ones that work on symptoms elsewhere...

It's both.  :)  I have to keep a sense of humor about it all, or it

I guess I read it as trying to dissolve it in the whole mess... which as
you say is bad enough... ;0  I got turned off of sugar in coffee (back
before I discovered the allergy to coffee itself) by a friend that
always put so much sugar in his coffee that it hadn't a chance of
dissolving...  There was always this thick layer of coffee-ish-colored
sludge in the bottom of the cup afterwards...  What only made it worse
was that we were using those snap-the-cone-shaped-cup-in-the-holder
Solo cups...
