Should be some sort of public transport available, you are in Germany
where they have it all over the place. Sure you don't want to hike it? I
saw both of them in 1975, inside of Neuschwanstein, as well as outside
but only outside of Linderhof. Wish we could have gotten our girls to
the former while we were stationed in Germany but it never worked out.

Availability depends on the (mostly) Air Force base. They have to send
planes to various places thruout the world, some can take a limited
number of passengers. Cost is something like $10. per segment in CONUS
(continental US), not sure what, if any, for OCONUS (outside states). As
a retiree, Steve falls into the lowest class of those eligible for
flights (Active duty on the job, active on leave, family of active on
leave and retiree, IIRC). We'd show up at the airport on a certain day,
sign up for flight going to certain location and hope they'd have space
(It's also known as Space-A.) available. Going to Hawaii, slim chance
but Hawaii to mainland, more likely. Mostly cargo flights, bring
earplugs, your own food (can buy box meal on some), etc. IOW, you need
to be really flexible in your travel plans, which is why we never did it
while Steve was active duty.

Got me drooling there. We found a decent, not great, not bad place in
Durham last year. I understand there are other German places in the area
but we've not gotten to them yet. Time, money and school, mostly. We
went to the one a couple of times last summer, first for my birthday and
then after a doctor's appointment in the area. With school in session,
we don't travel too far, just to eat out often during the semester.

Braces make the wrist stiff and you need some flex for rolling action.
I've found that out from experience.
