Actually the fuel cost per mile driven is darned near identical. Ethanol has
lower specific heat per gallon than gaz-o-lina so it takes more of it to do the
same amount of work. It's definitely not an immediate winner for your wallet
but *may* be a winner for the environment.

If they are charging the same for the stiffer mix - then someone is getting
screwed. But, there is little difference between straight regular and 10%
ethanol mix WRT gas mileage. At least with modern cars which have engine
management confusers to deal with the differences.
 
Keep in mind that we can grow more ethanol nearly immediately. Growing more oil
to make fuel takes millions of years ... I can't wait that long.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Grilled Corn w/Chilli-Lime Butter
 Categories: Vegetables, Chilies, Cheese, Citrus
      Yield: 2 servings

      2    Ears corn
      3 tb Softened butter
    1/2 ts Chilli spice
      1    Lime zested, juiced
    1/4 ts Cayenne; or more
            Kosher salt
            Parmesan or cotija cheese

  Remove husks and clean corn. Boil 3 minutes. Drain and
  pat dry.

  Add to a grill or a dry grill pan on high heat. Keep
  turning until all sides are slightly blackened. Let cool.

  In a bowl, combine softened butter, chili powder, lime
  juice and zest, and cayenne.

  Rub butter on corn and season with salt and more cayenne
  if you like it spicy.

  Roll in Parmesan or cotija cheese.
