Hi Janis,

>> Definitely as they grow up way too soon. My oldest grandson is going
>> to be a senior next year, and colleges had already contacting him

JK> > That old already! I remember our girls got flooded with material; I
JK> > think they both filled several paper bags worth of brochures from

JK> It sure is hard thinking of him as that old :) :) I'm reminded of my
JK> Dad always joking about our age when my sisters and brother were
JK> growing up.. He used to say things like, "Let's see how old are you
JK> now? 15?" I was 20.. Lol.. the again maybe he wasn't joking and just
JK> didn't want to keep track of our ages hehe

Could be, it's hard to see kids leave home, as you know. And, the older
you got, reminded him that he wasn't gettting any younger either. Since
we see our parents about once a year (in person, on skype, more often),
it's always always a bit of a startle to see how old (and frailer)
they've gotten.

>> hasn't seemed so grownup for a lot longer! I guess really, he's a lot
>> like Ron. Ron's mom always used to tell me that everyone considered
>> Ron to be like a wise old man when he was just a kid (g).

 JK> > And now he's grown into it. (G)

 JK> LOL so true :) :)

Is he the family patriarch now or does he have an older brother?

>> Sounds kind of what it will be like for us.. Ithaca is going to be say
>> less than 10 minutes away for dining/cultural things.. Binghamton will
>> be probably 30-45 minutes away.. We'll keep our doctors in Binghamton
>> since it won't be rough getting to their offices.

JK> > Nice; we had to change primary care doctors late last year so now we
JK> > have to go to Raleigh.

JK> Our insurance is changing also.. what a pia..I'll probably pay a visit
JK> to the holistic physician my daughter sees just because she seems very
JK> sharp and has helped my daughter a lot. There are some people who
JK> swear by that type of medicine for MS.. who knows. The only trouble is
JK> she doesn't accept any insurance.. but I've dealt with that kind of
JK> thing before (Dr. Bihari, in NYC, who is the one who prescribed LDN
 JK> which I still take).

We're trying our best to stay within our insurance plan. Found out how
expensive it can be to do otherwise last year when I didn't get a pre
approval from my doctor in NC to see an urgent care one in NV. It could
have been a lot more expensive than it was tho. The pharmacy out there
took our insurance for the meds I needed; that was a big help.

JK> > The office is near the new Whole foods Market so
JK> > we usually do some shopping there afterward. Ran in for one thing
JK> the > other day and ended up getting more than that. (G)

JK> Yep, I do that often enough :)

As in "I noticed you were running short on this, do you want to get more
while we're here?" sort of thing. Not too costly this time, and a couple
of bakery splurges went into the buggy, as well as a new cheese to try.
(G)

JK> > seminary & college here in a smallish town, lots of fast food places
JK> but > some nicer dining. A new bbq place opened up about a month ago,
JK> not too > far from where we live. First visit was good, need to go
JK> again & see if > the quality has kept up. (G)

JK> I remember getting so upset with a pizza place in Warwick when we
JK> living there... on our first few visits, the food was great.. after
JK> about a month, the owner started cutting corners though, and the food
 JK> suffered for it. I

Good way to lose business fast is to cut corners, especially when you're
just getting established.

JK> understand what it must be like for new businesses, but it's such a
JK> disapointment when that happens. I hope your BBQ restaurant stays
JK> "good".. perhaps it will if business is doing well.

We went up last night after I got out of class, no tables available
inside & not nice enough to eat outside so we took it home. Steve said
his chicken was a bit under done (he nuked it some) & thinks they gave
him the wrong kind of beans (OK but not what he wanted). We'll have to
go up again at a less busy time; they're now open for lunch and supper
instead of just the latter. He said their hot sauce (new) did have quite
a kick to it. I had the pulled pork (not eastern NC style) and the
vinegar based bbq sauce, good but not great. I bascally had a bit less
than half my meal (split before starting to eat) last night, finished it
tonight.

>> glad > Steve kept the sound baffle blanket from the old one to put on
>> the new > one; it definatly cuts down on the sound.

>> hehe.. yes, glad you mentioned that kind of thing. That will also be
>> a consideratio since the living room and study will be very close by!

JK> > Close doors, add sound absorbing materials (quilts, etc), run it in
 JK> off > hours......................

JK> Yep.. I essentially do that here now since we've rearranged the rooms
JK> and room that was the Dining room here is now the living room :)

We had pocket doors between the kitchen and living/dining room in a few
places; they did a good job of keeping the sound in the kitchen.

JK> > kitchen a bit too. A good wall scrubbing would help, maybe a new
JK> coat of > paint.................doubt it's been painted since the
 JK> redoing (or
 JK> > before).

JK> Understand that one.. we'll be doing quite a bit of painting here as
JK> well once we've finished moving to the new house. At least not having
JK> all the furniture in the house should help that go quickly.

And get a power spray painter--lots faster than brushes.

>> Yes and darn it, it will be good excercise for me to use those darn
>> steps twice a day hehehehe

 JK> > Twice a day but don't overdo.

 JK> I shouldn't have to really...

You'ld be surprisd, especially if you want to put away clean laundry, do
something in the extra bedroom (sewing room), etc how often you will
"run the stairs".

Catch you later,
