Indeed. Sometimes I think that Annie's being self-absorbed,
but I have never been in quite her situation. Part of it is
that they keep saying he's going to die soon, and she comes
to terms, but then he doesn't die, and the hopes come up
again, and so goes the roller coaster. Enough to wear down
the strongest person.

They've arranged for various nursing and PT modalities to
be delivered at home. Plus hospice remains a resource when
it comes to that. What Annie dreads (and is indeed to be
feared) is what happens when something bad happens at a
time when no help is available.

 NB> sort of aide service in to help take on some of the work, and free
 NB> Annie to just be there for Billy?  That could also provide a safety net

That seems to be being taken care of as well, thank goodness.

The oncologists have called him twice in the home asking
if he would consider being put back on chemo. We figure
they're missing the tens of thousands of dollars per
treatment. Anyhow, he's stronger and - according to Annie
- in better condition than he's been in for years. The
cancer presumably is growing too, but the treatments were
so debilitating that this time Bill said no mas.

Ah ... it's always sad, but he was in tough shape for a
very long time, wasn't he.
