IIRC, two days is what I've heard. Of course we were out west so there
was no opening of the fridge or freezer until Steve got home about 5
days after the incident. We didn't lose anything.

That's the point. Right now it's quite full but hopefully will be
reduced enough to put a jug in by the end of the month.

I'm not surprised. You probably saw Dale's posting of Steve's texts.
That hit like a ton of bricks!  Looks like chemically induced
pancreatitis (reaction from some new meds, tipping point being the short
burst of prednisone). It floored my primary doctor as well; evidentally
the A1C she orders at every blood test was not done for the last couple
I had (last one was May 23). I'm feeling a whole lot better now, just
getting used to finger sticks, carb counting, what a portion of this or
that looks like, etc. I'm on insulin because the doctors don't want any
meds going thru the pancreas except ones they know shouldn't affect it.
My blood glucose tests have dropped dramatically as the effects of the
bad meds work their way out of my system and the pancreas heals.

You can pick your friends but not your family and often the friends you
pick become family.

I'm doing a lot more e-mails than I am hand written notes & letters.
It's a lot easier on my wrists--as I found from note taking in classes.
BTW, Steve is officially approved for graduation now.

A few weeks ago, I found a recipe for a shrimp pasta alfredo that called
for jarred sauce so I checked my James Beard (a basics cook book I
inherited from my grandmother in 1974). Simple to do, no chemical soup
of ingredients (3 natural ones), and absolutely decadant! But, now even
that will be done in very limited quantities.

Something to consider; I'll still keep a sharp eye on how much I use
tho. I liked the Aloha brand shoyu that was all over Hawaii; they had a
gold one that was more on the sweet than salty side if I remember
rightly.
