Sort of. But, this particular farmer did it to prove a point. Stan was a nice
guy who got dissed pretty badly by a group of townies who were convinced that
the sun rose and set in their (exposed) butt cracks. One of the kinder remarks
made was "Go get your John Deere and your wallet and we'll teach you how to
race."

He later got involved in my brand of evil - short track dirt racing ... as an
engine builder and car owner. Also, after it became popular nationally, in
tractor pulling. He was one of the top guys in each field. (no puns intended)

At the same time - movie hustlers (Jackie Gleason and Paul Newman aside) I used
to shoot a lot of pool and watched some pretty good pool players get taken to
the cleaners by hustlers. So, I was never tempted. I did, at one time shoot
pool against Rudolf Wanderone - at that time known as "New York Fats" (before
the movie came out). He cleaned my clock in a friendly game and gave me a very
good piece of advice -- play a lot of three cushion billiards and it will
improve your pool and snooker abilities.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Aiken Pool Hall Hot Dog Chilli
 Categories: Chilli, Beef, Vegetables
      Yield: 12 Servings

      1 lb Hamburger meat
      4 md Onions; diced/chopped
      4 tb Yellow mustard
      3 ts Sugar
      2 ts Apple cider vinegar
      2 ts Chilli spice mix; to 1 TB
      1 c  Catsup
           Salt
 
  Break up the hamburger meat and put into a 4 qt. pan. Add
  enough hot water to make a thick mix. Stir until smooth.
 
  Add the remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 1 hour. Can
  be thinned as needed with water or beer.
 
  The Aiken Pool Hall, Aiken, SC, is famous for having the
  best chilli dogs in the area.
