That's called "positive" reinforcement. No matter that YOU are positively
disgusted with it.

We have an equivalent to the old Class D minor league teams - the Springfield
Sliders in the "Prospect League". Proving once again that you must kiss a lot
of frogs before finding a prince -especially one who can hit and field his
position.

season (04 August vs Quincy Gems (another misnomer if ever there was one). The
Sliders slid into a 10-3 loss - confirming that I had not broken my vow not to
attend a professional baseball game.  Bv)=

They also gave away a car (Hyundai Accent) but you had to buy beisbols and hit
this little target with one of them. I had a lemon shake-up instead. Looked for
peanuts and Cracker Jack - but, the management apparently has never paid
attention to the song.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Cracker Jack
 Categories: Snacks, Grains, Nuts
      Yield: 4 Quarts

      4 qt popped popcorn
      1 c  Spanish peanuts
      4 tb Butter
      1 c  Brown sugar
    1/2 c  Light corn syrup (Karo)
      2 tb Br'er Rabbit molasses
    1/4 ts Salt
 
  Preheat the oven to 250øF/120øC.

  Combine the popcorn and peanuts in a metal bowl or on a
  cookie sheet and place in the preheated oven.

  Combine all of the remaining ingredients in a saucepan.

  Stirring over medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil.

  Using a cooking thermometer, bring the mixture to the
  hard-ball stage (275øF/135øC, or the point at which the
  syrup, when dripped into cold water, forms a hard but
  pliable ball). This will take about 20 to 25 minutes (or
  until you notice the mixture turning a slightly darker
  brown).

  Remove the popcorn and peanuts from the oven and, working
  quickly, pour the caramel mixture in a fine stream over
  them. Then place them back in the oven for 10 minutes.

  Mix well every five minutes, so that all of the popcorn is
  coated.

  Cool and store in a covered container to preserve freshness.

  Makes 4 Quarts
