Better than nothing. Billy has (though fully self-conscious and
motivated) managed to claw his way up from bedridden and moribund
to walking all around the house, though he still doesn't get out
of the house except to the doctor's. My friends who visited just
now say they think he'll hang on for quite a while yet - I'll be
back there soon, though taking a few days off first.

Yep, that's the function I think it's meant to serve.

I'm amused that you don't count Brussels as greens. Not
surprised, though. What about other cabbagy things?

Strikes me as a bit extreme, but I don't know your case
or your regimen. I know that I just had three mini-muffins,
one lemon poppy seed and two blueberry, and I expect the
Glucophage to take care of them all plus the glass of juice
I'll drink in an hour if I can't find a banana (preferred).

I guess that's why people classify them as a veg rather than
a fruit, though they are fruits. 1/3 of the sugar of an orange
(though glycemically similar as oranges and the like have much
more fiber).

1/4 ts would made it plenty hot for normal people, but
my point is that I'm neither normal people nor aberrational
from a taste point of view.

Catfish Gumbo
cat: Louisiana, fish, main, soup, stew
serves: 6

1/4 c pork fat rendered           
1/2 c celery chopped fine
1/2 c green pepper chopped fine
1/2 c onion chopped fine
1 clove garlic chopped fine
2 c beef broth
1 lb canned tomatoes
1/2 lb fresh okra, sliced, or 10 oz frozen
2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
1/4 t thyme
1 bay leaf
few drops Tabasco sauce
1 lb skinned catfish fillets, cut into 1" pieces
1 1/2 c cooked rice

Wilt veggies in fat. Add all other ingredients except fish and
rice. Simmer 30 min. Add fish and simmer 10-15 min or until
fish is done. Serve over rice.
