====================================================================
Hi Hap,

->  HN> Happy Thanksgiving Ruth!

-> Hope you had one too. Mine was quiet, talked to my mom, my in laws, our
-> girls and skyped with Steve. Had a pot luck at church with 4 families
-> and a young man visiting from Russia.

 HN> Ours was nice, no cooking, just a day
 HN> long grazing. We did go down to my studio
 HN> for about 4 hours to meet Anne's sister
 HN> her hubby and his mom. She wanted to see
 HN> my art and my art space so we had a fine
 HN> time chatting down there.

Sounds nice. This house was almost too quiet but it's not any more.
Steve came back Sunday night so we've the sounds from his computer (He
uses sound a lot for background a lot more than I do) and, right now,
the dishwasher running as well.

-> HN> into the ballpark. The water tastes
->  HN> pretty good, I don't think it's
-> HN> heavily chlorinated at all. But then
-> HN> again I'm used to drinking it!

-> Whereas I'm not so I would taste any chemicals you tune out. It's
-> probably not the sulpher water we had in Berlin tho, thankfully.

 HN> It is reputed to be some of the best
 HN> water around, and I've never tasted
 HN> any "chemicallishness" to it.

I can drink the water straight from the tap here but Steve always
filters his. I actually filter mine most of the time but sometimes if I
get a quick drink in some other place than the kitchen, I don't as the
kitchen sink is the only one with a filter.

-> -> will be by family.

-> And now down by 2; Steve's brother and wife won't be able to come. We'll
-> miss them but understand their reason.

 HN> Stuff happens.

I know, I think it's disappointing Steve a bit and his mom who really
wanted everybody to be there. But, she understand, as we all do, that
sometimes we just can't do what we want to, no matter how badly we want
to.

-> HN> test drive. Did think about it though but
-> HN> had other things that I needed to get done!
 HN> ->
-> I know that feeling. I've been able to get a fair amount of work done
-> this week--not all what I started out to accomplish but other things
-> that needed tending to as well. Working on getting the 3rd bag of paper
-> filled (paper grocery sack) since Sunday to go out to the recycle bin
-> (and it should go out tomorrow).

 HN> my list seems to grow regardless of how
 HN> much I manage to get done each day.

I know the feeling. I had an appointment at 11 in Chapel Hill today, got
home about 3. Had lunch at the Mediterrainian Deli after, then swung
into Raleigh to pick up some stuff at Whole Foods. Still, not as bad as
it could have been; I got a load of laundry done after we got home and
before we left for church about 6:15.

->  HN> extra height...but it's not likely that
-> HN> I'd ever be able to afford THOSE homes!!

-> We've drooled over the exterior of some mini mansions but know we'd not
-> be able to afford them. We've also seen some attractive exteriors to
-> modular homes (more within our budget) but with both, I always say that
-> I want to see the floor plan before I decide if it's worth looking
-> further into.

 HN> Makes sense.

Only way you're going to have an idea if it's worth getting more serious
about. Nothing like a real walk thru tho to get the best idea of how it
might suit you.

-> HN> That is good! fasting blood sugar is my
-> HN> toughest number to keep in line.

-> Mine was up to 90 this morning but not surprising considering I was a
-> bit heavier on the carbs yesterday. Cut back today and tomorrow's number
-> should be better.

 HN> I had my A1C done earlier this week, and
 HN> the result was pretty good 6.3 up
 HN> 0.1 from last time, but my fasting
 HN> numbers are still running higher than
 HN> I want. I'm trying to get more exercise
 HN> in and looking at other options as well.

I'll probably have another A1C done around January. Fasting numbers are
mostly in the mid 70s, with the occaisional blip up to the 80s (and the
90 on the day after Thanksgiving). Overall, I'm in much better control
than I thought I would be at this point when I was first diagnosed. The
pulminologist was a bit surprised (first I'd seen her since the
diagnosis) but was able to tell me what to expect if I should be on a
prednisone burst again.

Catch you later,
Ruth
