A week of momos doesn't sound that wonderful. In Java,
at least there will be satay and fried chicken.

It might happen: the week in Nepal will be packed full,
and if I'm lucky and the computer doesn't get stolen and
I get wi-fi for a couple sessions, I might do. Probably
can connect in Singapore - free wi-fi is unheard of in the
fancier places, and neither of the hotels we're in even
mentions it in its literature, but there are Internet
parlors and Starbuckses and things like that. Likely slim
pickings in Java.

That probably makes sense but still a disappointment.
Certainly something that's a better fit will come by soon.

Ayam Goreng Yogya
cat: poultry, main, Java, Indonesia
servings: 4

2 3/4 lb chicken, in serving pieces
2 c water
oil for deep-frying
h - spice paste
1 Tb coriander seeds
3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
3 in fresh turmeric
1 Tb chopped palm sugar
2 Tb oil
1 handful chopped coriander leaves

Yogya Fried Chicken

Grind or blend all spice paste ingredients except oil
and coriander leaves until fine. Heat oil in a wok and
saute for 3 min. Add chicken and cook, stirring, until
well coated. Add water and simmer uncovered until chicken
is almost cooked and sauce is dry. Leave to cool.

Just before chicken is required. heat oil and deep-fry
chicken until it is crisp and golden brown in color.
