==========================
Hi Michael,

ML> I know that we do our best, but I sometimes pick on littler
ML> things when the writer I know is capable of more precision.
 RH> I'll take that as a compliment then. (G)

ML> It wasn't a slam, as you know. I just like to call a spade if
ML> not a spade always, at least a shovel.

Or, as the Army calls it, entrenching tool, one each. (G)

RH> I'm not sure what triggers mine; I think stress (or the relief that
RH> the stress is over) does to some extent but I never noticed any food
 RH> correlations.

ML> I think the literature suggests foods as possible triggers, not
ML> as the only triggers. Bright light is a notable one: I had one
ML> major one triggered that way, only though it was distinctly
ML> migraine, it was thoroughly pleasant, almost as though a brief
ML> window into the hereafter. It was followed by a prolonged period
ML> of mental and spiritual darkness; pretty strange. I don't recall
ML> the exact circumstance, though in the last couple minutes the
ML> details are filling in. I was with a ladyfriend, and we decided
ML> we needed exercise - this being in my fitness days - but had
ML> concert tickets that evening, for some big name, Rampal or
ML> Perlman, that caliber. Anyhow, we decided to take a short but
ML> steep hike; chose a route in southern New Hampshire where you
ML> could do one peak for a couple hours' exercise or go on to the
ML> sister peak and back for much more; we decided to see how we
ML> felt and how time was before deciding. Anyhow, on reaching the
ML> first peak in mid-afternoon, the sunlight was blinding, and I
ML> had this ineffable experience, complete with a peculiar buzzing
ML> sound and the light washing over my consciousness in waves.
ML> Clearly migrainous but without pain, and it made me feel really
ML> tremendous, energetic enough to go to the second peak and back
ML> and to the car while it was still light. We had time to shower
ML> and change into nice clothes and make the concert, which I don't
ML> recall but which was probably marvelous. And shortly thereafter,
ML> pounding headaches and black despair.

The pounding headache is what brings me down. It'll usually start with a
garden variety headache but at some point turn nasty on me with some
queasiness, no bright lights or aura. I don't even want to think about
going anywhere except to a dark, quiet room as even a lot of sounds will
seem amplified and excruciatingly loud. But, as I said, medications, a
damp washcloth for the forehead (thanks to my MIL for that idea) and
sleep and I'm washed out, but over it in 6-8 hours.

 RH> Welcome to spam-a-lot.

ML> It was a huge and suspicious change, all over the space
ML> of a couple days. I don't recall signing up for anything.
ML> More likely someone with my address in their book got
 ML> infected?

Quite possible; I vet some suspicious ones by Steve, others I know right
off that they're spam & delete without opening. Not as many get thru
Lynux.

RH> Sounds like you need some tweaking of your settings.

ML> The settings are autotweaked by Juno, and one can't change
ML> them, just turn the filter on or off. The product as a whole
ML> is not a good one, but it works for me who do not have
ML> consistent access to the Web. Also everybody's got my e-mail
ML> address and it would be a pain to change.

I understand--hopefully whatever has caused it has ceased. Steve is my
go to for asking about things like that, and keeping my system working
as bug free as possible.

ML> As for what they hope to accomplish, most of the time they
RH> hope to sucker you into opening it so they can mine data.

ML> So why send the same thing several times? And fifty or more
ML> all the same size (8K), all at once, makes no sense to me.

To make you annoyed, see if you'll open any of them, any number of
reasons.

 ML> Carrot kugel
ML> cat: vegetarian, Jewish, diabetic maybe, side, dessert
RH> Somewhat, but not entirely diabetic, I'd say. The agave syrup is the
RH> killer; I'd probably try a mix of that and stevia.

ML> Funny thing being that there is no consensus on the glycemic
ML> effects of some things - until just a few years ago fructose
ML> (agave syrup in particular) was considered one of the good
ML> guys, now, not so much.

We bought a small bottle to try but Steve used it all; I never even had
a drop. I think it's supposed to be one of the better natural sugars but
could be wrong on that.

 ML> FRIED STUFFED HARD CRABS
ML> Categories: Florida, Maryland, shellfish, main
 ML> servings: 6 to 12

 ML> 12 steamed hard crabs
 ML> 6 c pancake mix
 ML> 4 ts Old Bay
 ML> 3-4 c milk
ML> Fat or oil for frying
 ML> 1 lb crabmeat
 ML> 1 lg egg
 ML> 1/4 c mayonnaise
 ML> 1/2 ts salt
 ML> 1/4 ts pepper
 ML> 1 ts Worcestershire sauce
 ML> 1 ts dry mustard
 ML> 1 c bread crumbs

ML> Remove all cartilage from crabmeat. In a bowl mix bread crumbs,
ML> egg, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and dry
ML> mustard. Add crabmeat and mix gently. Shape into 12 balls and
ML> put aside. Remove apron, top shell, fat and gills from crabs.
ML> Firmly pack one ball of crabmeat mixture into top cavity. Put
ML> pancake mix and Old Bay in large bowl. Stir in milk until
ML> mixture is consistency of thick pancake batter. Dip crabs,
ML> one at a time, making sure to coat all sides well. Lift crab
ML> by large claw and let excess batter drain off. Fry in deep fat
ML> at 375F until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 min. Drain
 ML> and serve immediately.

I'd have to drop some of the carbs from this or make sure the rest of
the meal was very low carb. I guess cole slaw and some other veggie
would put it in my safe range. I could probably eat one without trouble
but more than that might be a bit questionable on the carbs, especially
with pancake mix, bread crumbs and milk. The rest of the ingredients are
fairly safe tho.

Catch you later,
Ruth
