Well, by the time you measure the beans, find the grinder, pump the water,
build the fire and brew the coffee it may well be 8 o'clock. Unless you prepare
at night - I arm my coffee maker with water, filter and coffee before I go to
bed. At 4 ayem it kicks on and brews me a nice 5 cup (their measure - really
three honest cups) pot. So, by the time I find my slippers, visit the throne
room to pump my bilges, splash some water on my face and stumble to the kitchen
it is just finishing its brew cycle.

I can get 8 O'Clock here at Schnuk's, Shop & Save and Meijer. County Market
doesn't seem to want to carry it. None of them, however, carry the 8 O'Clock
BOKAR coffee - which was my first coffee ever back in 1947. It's what my
Granddad drank. I finally finagled a bag via Single Ruth who lives (I think)
near where it is roasted. WOW! Talk about disappointment. Shoulda stuck with
the memories rather than have them revised by a harsh blast of reality.

We had A&P and Piggly Wiggly and Kroger supermarkets. Red & White stores and
independent neighbourhood grocery stores (sort of non-gas pump convenience
stores). A&P is totally tits-up except for a few scattered locations out east.
Piggly Wiggly sold their local operations (in Illinois) to Eisner's which
morphed into Jewel and then retreated to the Chicago area. Their (former)
stores were taken over by Nieman Markets (CUB Foods and County Market) Kroger
packed up their tent and left town in a labour dispute - to be replaced
(sort-of) by Shop & Save.

I have seen some Piggly Wiggly stores in Mississippi and, I think, Oklahoma. A
quick scan of the internet shows that their stores are mainly in the mid-South
and Southeastern US. But, the Piggly Wiggly headquarters is in Keene, NH -- go
figger.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Peanut Butter Chicken Wings
 Categories: Poultry, Nuts, Beer, Citrus, Chilies
      Yield: 8 servings

     50    Chicken wings; tips removed
     24 oz (2 bottles) beer; not LITE
      1 c  Molasses
    1/2 c  Creamy peanut butter
    1/2 c  Fresh lemon juice
    1/2 c  Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 c  Prepared (yellow) mustard
      1 ts Salt
      2 tb Mexene chilli spice mix
    1/2 c  Chopped fresh parsley;
           - garnish
      2    Lemons; sliced thin; garnish

  Preheat oven 450øF/230øC. Line a large roasting pan with
  foil. Cut chicken wings in half at the joint and place
  wings evenly in roasting pan.

  In a large, heavy saucepan, combine the beer, molasses,
  peanut butter, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, mustard,
  salt and chilli mix.

  Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer over low heat
  about 15 minutes until sauce has reduced and thickened.

  Pour sauce over chicken wings tossing to coat each wing.

  Bake 20 minutes.

  Remove from heat and rest 10 minutes.

  Serve with Ranch or Bleu Cheese salad dressing as a dip.
