It didn't grow locally for us either, Mom bought the frozen concentrate.
On rare occaisions she bought grape--those times, as soon as we finished
drinking it, she would snatch up the glasses (plastic) and rinse them. I
guess she was afraid the grape juice would stain the plastic.

I've switched to the vegetable juices--Knudsen if we buy it at Whole
Foods, V8 if bought most other places. Trader Joe's isn't bad but I
prefer the Knudsen, given a choice.

I've a friend who can't take anything hotter than a bell pepper. The
"regular" chili I make has a bit of heat in it, but not much. We toned
it down after making a batch that was too hot for most of our friends in
AZ once. That's why I like to do the other version from time to time and
figured (correctly) it would be a good competition one.

I hear you on that one! I think I've got everything on hand for the
family friendly chili but need to pick up peppers and meat for the other
one. I've got some hot peppers in the freezer but will use fresh for the
cook off, just a personal quirk.
