Our church has people coming from a fairly wide area... enough so that
we often have a wide variation in what sort of snow accumulations are
found... at least once, the morning service was cancelled, on rather
short notice, because of what were seen as dire predictions... 
Meanwhile, I'd already been up at the church practicing the organ for
that morning service as conditions were snowy but not really all that
bad... it wasn't until nobody at all was arriving that I wondered what
was up and eventually found out that they'd called everyone at home to
cancel services... I drove home, and later took a neighbor to the
grocery store for some necessities, and it still wasn't all that bad...
but apparently the city was in better shape than much of the outlying
areas that day..  :)
