Look for Portugese sweet bread recipies.  That's what "Hawaiian" bread
is.  Yes, it is somewhat, but not really a whole lot, sweet. I've made
it; guess I'll have to dig out the recipe and post it later.

But neither of them are the real thing.  It's a very soft bread, makes
good bread pudding.  Some years ago, Michael sent me a recipe for
chocolate bread pudding that reccommended the King's honey wheat.  I
tried it--very good!

King's is the name brand.  When we were stationed in Frankfurt (late
80s) some friends of ours introduced us to King's Hawaiian bread.  Fast
forward to 2002 and the graduation party we had for Rachel & Davd--we
did a Hawaiian theme one and Rachel specifically asked for the bread she
knew (didn't remember the brand name but we knew). Neither coconut nor
pineapple in it.

It's ligher than either stollen or coffee cake, more like a dinner roll.
