My sensory apparatus is discombobulated - yesterday it
was 65F and I felt slightly chilly.

Uncomfortable of course, but humidity is a characteristic
of many sites of early civilization - moisture being pretty
important for agriculture.

Similar precautions, no doubt, regarding poppy seeds. Now, I
understand, drug tests are somewhat more sophisticated, but
various common substances, from poppy seeds to ibuprofen, used
to cause false positives.

 RH> I'm wondering if wild hemp or marijuana is what I used to see referred
 RH> to as "loco weed" in old Western novels.
 
I was pretty sure no, as wild hemp contains little in the way
of mind-bending substances; plus I'd read that Datura (one of
the nightshades/morning glories) has been identified by this name.

Checking on the Internet, as it's in the wee hours, I discover
that Datura is only occasionally cited as locoweed, but various
members of the bean/vetch family are the most commonly so named.

Pretty much. 

 RH> Depends on what I want. I spent a couple of hours grocery shopping
 RH> (between 2 stores) this afternoon. Some was stocking up in
 RH> anticipation of Steve being "out of commission" for his surgery, some
 RH> was "need it now". I didn't linger over the produce too much this time.
 RH> The farmer's market opens its main season this Saturday; I'll linger
 RH> there and talk with the various vendors as I pick & chose.

      Title: Black Bean Quesadillas
 Categories: Mexican, Beans
      Yield: 4 servings

     15 oz Can black beans, drained            4 oz Soy cheese/jalapeno jack,
    1/4 c  Chopped tomato                           -- shredded
      3 tb Chopped cilantro                   32 ea Spinach leaves, shredded
     12 ea Black olives, pitted, sliced        4 tb Hot salsa
      8 ea 6" wholewheat tortillas

  Mash beans.  Stir in tomato, cilantro & olives.  Spread evenly onto 4
  tortillas.  Sprinkle with cheese, spinach & salsa.  Top with remaining
  tortillas.

  Preheat oven to 350F.  Bake tortillas on ungreased cookie sheet for 12
  minutes.  Cut into wedges & serve.
